about

This is a Bruce Springsteen-inspired song, about the young mum despairing about her teenage daughter who is seeing "the wrong kind of guy". The grandma nods but inside she's smiling, remembering when she was young and wild. "What's wrong with kids these days?" asks the mum. "There ain't nothing wrong with kids these days" is the answer!

lyrics

Verse 1:
The teenager sulks in her room upstairs
She’s seeing a boy, her mum despairs
What can I do
Dunno what to say
I wonder what’s wrong with kids these days

Pre-chorus 1:
The old lady nods but inside she smiles
Remembering wickeder ways and wiles

Chorus:
The motorbike roared at a furious pace
The wind in her hair
Her arms round his waist
They rode through the night like a bat out of hell
Drove to the lake that hid them so well
The motorbike roared at a furious pace
The wind in her hair
And life in her face
The wind in her hair
Life in her face

Verse 2:
He’s the wrong type of guy, he drinks and he swears
You can tell by his ink, the clothes that he wears
A bad influence
Leads her astray
I’m sure that he’s had his wickedest way

Pre-chorus 1:
The old lady nods but inside she smiles
Remembering wickeder ways and wiles

Chorus:
The motorbike roared at a furious pace
The wind in her hair
Her arms round his waist
They rode through the night like a bat out of hell
Drove to the lake that hid them so well
The motorbike roared at a furious pace
The wind in her hair
And life in her face
The wind in her hair
Life in her face

Bridge:
He’s all that I want
The young girl cries
I wonder what’s wrong with kids these days
I know we belong
When I look in his eyes
I wonder what’s wrong with kids these days
Ain’t nothing wrong with kids these days
Ain’t nothing wrong with kids these days

Pre-chorus 2:
The old lady smiles
And knowingly sighs
Your mother’s dad had the sexiest eyes

Chorus:
The motorbike roared at a furious pace
The wind in my hair
My arms round his waist
We rode through the night like a bat out of hell
Drove to the lake that hid us so well
The motorbike roared at a furious pace
The wind in my hair
And life in my face
The wind in my hair
Life in my face

Angie Kuske UK

I'm a Singer-Songwriter based in Kent, UK. I started writing lyrics in the early 90s until work took over. I gradually taught myself how to use Garageband and now create all my songs from start to finish. I write unique, catchy pop songs with an 80s influence. I believe my lyrics have meaning and imagery which I hope people can relate to. Music links: linktr.ee/AngieKuskeMusic ... more
